HRAGD Chapter Meeting – January 22, 2009
“The Americans with Disabilities Act: Understanding the 2008 ADA Amendment”
Among all their many responsibilities, HR professionals struggle to keep on top of frequent legislative changes, which can feel overwhelming. HRAGD’s Legal Affairs Committee is dedicated to keeping members apprised of changing legislation and explaining the impact of changes on HR. On Thursday, January 22, 2009, HRAGD presents a breakfast chapter meeting, The Americans with Disabilities Act: Understanding the 2008 ADA Amendment, to help HR professionals understand the ADA changes and the business compliance issues. Members of HRAGD’s Legal Affairs Committee will present the program, hosted by Chairperson Claudia Orr with a panel of three Committee members Jennifer Buckley, Miriam Rosen and Carol Schley, all of whom are attorneys and HRAGD members.
Claudia Orr will outline the key changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the panel members will present their perspectives and facilitate an interactive session with examples and scenarios, allowing HR leaders to identify issues and analyze the ADA’s changes. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Identify changes to the ADA as a result of the 2008 Amendment
- Understand the impact of changes likely to affect their employers and current/prospective employees
- Gain an understanding of how to spot issues to avoid compliance challenges
- Learn how to analyze and work through ADA issues in the workplace
This program has been approved for 1.5 general HRCI credits.
