Make the most of your HRAGD membership by getting involved! Your active participation with allow you to influence the direction of the organization as well as meet and network with other members. There are opportunities for all areas of interest. The following is a brief summary of the current committees. Communications: Vice President: Kim Buckey kbuckey@highroads.com
Activities include: editing and publishing the monthly newsletter and editing and publishing the Annual Report. Committee typically meets the first Thursday of the month, usually in late afternoon and alternates between conference calls and “live” meetings. Live meetings currently scheduled for September, November, January, March and May and are usually held in Southfield.

The Vision of Community Relations is to offer outreach opportunities and drive social responsibility. We leverage the resources of our membership to foster diversity, encourage giving, develop future HR leaders, and prepare the workforce for the needs of tomorrow as we serve Greater Detroit.
Activities include: DIVERSITY – providing resources and events for the membership and community to promote diversity awareness in Greater Detroit; COLLEGE PROGRAMS – building and leveraging partnerships and promoting collaborative efforts with schools; contributing to improved educational results and preparation for HR careers by promoting mutually beneficial interactions between local HR students and HRAGD members; WORKFORCE READINESS – working with communities and businesses to help improve job search and workforce readiness skills of groups and individuals.
Legal Affairs: Vice President: Claudia D. Orr corr@plunkettcooney.com
Activities include: writing monthly articles for the newsletter; providing e-mail blasts on breaking legal developments; and co-sponsoring the chapter meeting and webinars dedicated to legal issues. Because the committee provides legal updates and analysis to HRAGD members, it is comprised of attorneys who specialize in employment/labor law issues. Typically, meetings are held every other month via conference call on the first Tuesday of the month at 8:30 a.m.

Activities include: securing sponsors and advertisers for HRAGD and branding the association. Committee meets the third Friday of the month. Location: Real Estate One, Northwestern Highway & Civic Center Drive, Southfield. Time: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Member Services: Vice President: Jessica Gard jgard@redico.com
Member Services promotes the rewards of HRAGD and SHRM membership with new member recruitment, membership renewal, professional certification, volunteer recruitment and recognition. Activities include: conducting member orientations; overseeing the member application & membership renewal process; coordinating the professional mentoring program; strategizing ways to recruit new members; recruiting and recognizing volunteers; raising funds for the SHRM Foundation; and promoting Human Resource Certification Institute professional certification. Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month with the format alternating between conference calls and face-to-face meetings.

The HRAGD Program Committee is comprised of a diverse, energetic, enthusiastic group of HR professionals who are committed to the education and professional development of their HR colleagues. It is responsible for delivering compelling HR-related programs and valuable networking opportunities for HR professionals at all levels.
The committee develops, plans and organizes the annual calendar of HRAGD’s monthly Chapter Meetings (a minimum of 7 per year), as well as periodic workshops and seminars, which includes securing local and national speakers, managing the logistics and arranging for greeters for each event. It also includes securing HR Certification Institute continuing education credits toward renewal of PHR, SPHR and GPHR certification. In addition, the committee coordinates periodic HR Connects Networking Events, the Career Management Group (CMG) meetings, the Global Special Interest Group (SIG), the annual Golf Outing and other special events.
The committee meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM at the Real Estate One – Corporate Offices, located on Northwestern Highway at Civic Center Drive, Southfield.

. The Finance and Audit Committee manages the financial aspects of the association which includes at a minimum the following tasks:
· Developing policies and procedures to improve chapter management
· Conducting internal audits to maintain compliance and controls
· Coordinating and monitoring the annual budget
· Maintaining financial records through solid accounting processes.
We welcome new members. No prior accounting or finance experience is necessary! This is a great opportunity to learn new skills or hone the ones you already have.

The Public Relations Committee serves to recognize, promote, and communicate the activities and accomplishments of HRAGD and its members to the business community and greater Metropolitan area. Activities include: routinely writing press releases for programs and events, and submitting to various media lists; developing ad campaigns; establishing contacts and forging relationships with media personnel.
