HRCI & Other Certifications

HRCI Re-Certification Guidelines

If you are certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), you need to recertify every three years. You can recertify in one of two ways:

  • Re-take the exam, or
  • Earn 60 recertification credit hours.

Fortunately, you have a partner in obtaining the 60 credits – HRAGD! Here’s how HRAGD can help:
  • HRAGD chapter meetings and workshops (as well as SHRM state conferences that HRAGD supports) provide opportunities to earn credits for continuing education.
  • HRAGD chapter meetings and workshops also provide opportunities for instruction (contact the HRAGD office for information on teaching at a future event).
  • Getting involved on an HRAGD committee can result in appointment to leadership positions, such as committee or conference chair or Board member.

The highlights discussed above and more details, including the recertification application form, can be found in the PHR, SPHR and GPHR Recertification Handbook available at www.hrci.org

  • SHRM Learning System Professional HR Management Course

Co-sponsored by SHRM, GAASHRM, HRAGD, and EMU Continuing Education

Enhance your career potential and professional status by completing the professional development program utilizing the SHRM Learning System. Designed for HR practitioners, this course is officially sanctioned by SHRM as study material for the PHR and SPHR examinations. Topics include Strategic Management, Workforce Planning & Employment, Human Resource Development, Compensation & Benefits, Employee & Labor Relations, and Occupational Health, Safety & Security.

Recent changes to the SHRM Learning System make this resource more valuable than ever:

    • Updated content, reflecting legislative changes, recent HR developments and student feedback
    • Expanded bank of test questions – nearly 1,500 in all
    • More practice tests, formatted to mimic the current HRCI exam experience
    • New SPHR supplement helps students take a more strategic approach, applying information across functional areas
    • Access to the new SHRM Learning System Resource Center, featuring HR updates, Webcasts, test-taking tips, related links, and eFlashcards that can be printed or downloaded to a PDA
    • Periodic online updates to cover significant changes in legislation and HR policies
